As a large, international company, Monster Energy believes it is our responsibility to support the communities in which we operate. Our philanthropic platform includes supporting active duty, injured and retired military personnel, Monster athletes and their charities, our local community and first responders. Our philanthropy support is managed through our foundation, Monster Energy Cares.
Veterans & Military Support
We have a strong appreciation for those who serve and have served in the U.S. military. We give support to veterans and those in active-duty through our work with many organizations that support our troops.
Through Thanks USA, an organization that provides college, technical and
vocational school need-based scholarships, we provide seven annual
scholarships to the children of U.S. military personnel. In addition, we do
a great deal of work with United Service Organizations (“USO”), an
organization that provides programs, services and live entertainment to
United State service members and their families. To date, we have
participated in seven Global USO tours with our Monster athletes and
celebrities. We donate tickets to events such as NASCAR, Supercross and
various concerts. In recognition of our involvement with USO, we received
the “Legacy of Hope” award in 2016, the highest honor USO can give an
organization for work done in connection with the military. We support
Warrior Built, an organization which helps combat veterans in Lake
Elsinore, California through vocational and recreational activities.
Through Warrior Built, we directly fund a repair shop for motorcycles and
other off-road vehicles Veteran Celebrity Riders has our support for over 5
years. We bring veterans together on motorcycle adventures to help those
with PTSD and other physical challenges.
We believe that one of the most valuable ways to support active-duty
military personnel is by organizing events to boost morale. In connection
with such efforts, we have traveled all over the globe, including to
Kuwait, Afghanistan, Korea, Japan, Iraq, Qatar, Italy, Greece, Diego
Garcia, Spain, Kosovo, Germany and Africa. In the past, we have hosted
drift shows for military personnel and visited military bases with
public-figures such as Jason “Wee Man” Acuña, UFC champion Max Holloway and
former UFC champion Dominick Cruz, to name a few.
Athlete Charities
We have the benefit of sponsoring some of the most talented athletes on the
planet. While these athletes have won numerous championships in their
respective sports, equally as impressive is their commitment to helping
those in need. For example, Kyle Busch, 2015 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
winner and Monster athlete, started the Kyle Busch Foundation with his wife
Samantha to empower children, families and communities to overcome hardship
by providing essential tools (financial, material and experiential) to
allow them to live the best lives possible. We continue to donate to the
Kyle Busch Foundation and are proud to have such a dedicated and
compassionate athlete as part of our Monster family.
Paul Thacker is a Monster athlete who was paralyzed during a snow mobile
accident in 2010. After living through this tragedy, Paul started the Paul
Dean Thacker Spinal Cord Recovery Foundation to help those with spinal cord
injuries similar to the one he suffered. The Paul Dean Thacker Spinal Cord
Recovery Foundation provides financial support to research cures for spinal
cord injuries. He also runs a veteran program that takes our heroes to
snowmobiling and fishing events to aid in their battle-field recovery. We
continue to provide financial donations to the Paul Dean Thacker Spinal
Cord Recovery Foundation each year and are proud to work with someone as
resilient as Paul.
Local Community Support
Facilitating positive change within a community begins by giving support at
the local level. Reflecting our belief in this principle, we, as a company,
and our employees participate in a variety of community outreach efforts
that benefit numerous individuals. This outreach takes many forms and
includes the following:
We contribute to local community charities, including Mothers Against Drunk Driving, a non-profit organization that seeks to prevent and support those affected by drunk driving.
We provide multiple scholarships each year to local high school students through the American Legion and Soroptimist.
We participate in Bike MS: Bay to Bay, a bike ride across California to raise money for programs and services for those in the community affected by multiple sclerosis. We just celebrated our 10th year of support for this charity.
At Monster’s headquarters we conduct two annual blood drives in partnership with the American Red Cross.
We work annually with the University of California, Irvine Cancer Research Institute to raise money for innovative, non-conventional cancer treatments.
First Responders
First responders are some of the bravest people and work day-in and day-out to ensure our communities are safe and protected. We provide discounts on, and donations of, our products to first responders, including police officers and SWAT team members. We also sponsor events commemorating the sacrifices first responders make on a daily basis.
Along with our focus, as a company, on various philanthropic initiatives, we are also proud of our employees who hold positions of leadership hroughout the community and donate their time, expertise and financial resources to an array of initiatives.
Through these platforms and the involvement of our employees, we will continue to support various philanthropic endeavors and our local community.
Employees
To encourage our employees to explore their philanthropic passions we now provide each US based, full-time members of our Monster family with a Volunteer Day Off.
